The Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES will head out on the road to challenge the Grace Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roanoke Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Roanoke Valley Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory.
Roanoke Valley Christian relied on the efforts of Luke Somers, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Logan Gutierrez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Somers scored 15 or more points. Jeremy Chou was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Ridgeview Christian scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Grace Christian still came out on top. Grace Christian walked away with a 63-56 victory over Ridgeview Christian.
Grace Christian relied on the efforts of Davis Reid, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Justin Hain, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Reid is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cashion, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Roanoke Valley Christian pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Grace Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Roanoke Valley Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Grace Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 27.7 rebounds per game. Given Roanoke Valley Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Grace Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
