Spencer Buckley and Chase Parkinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Buckley pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Parkinson struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Buckley also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delta is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. At the plate, Buckley went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Parkinson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Parkinson a new career-high.
In other batting news, Delta got a massive performance out of Max Danila, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Danila a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Barrett, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Leroy Greene Academy came out on top against Rio Vista on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Lions won by a run and slipped past the Rams 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 21, 2024.
Juan Salazar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Syrus Gray was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Leroy Greene Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Delta, their record now sits at 7-5.
Delta skirted past Leroy Greene Academy 11-10 in their previous matchup last Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
