The Unity Christian Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Heritage Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Unity Christian and eight for Heritage.
Unity Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 45-18 loss at the hands of Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Unity Christian has suffered against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond since March 1, 2021.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-15, which was the final score in Heritage's tilt against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Thursday. Heritage has not had much luck with Cerro Gordo/Bement recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Unity Christian dropped their record down to 4-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-23 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Unity Christian against Heritage in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 44-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Unity Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
