McDowell put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Erwin 85-63. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Warriors are ranked 484th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Buncombe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 70-56 bruising from T.C. Roberson. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
McDowell's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for North Buncombe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
McDowell strolled past the Black Hawks when the teams last played back in January by a score of 72-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDowell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
