On Tuesday, Kathleen came up short against Camden County and fell 44-36. Kathleen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Kathleen saw an underclassman step up: Kayden Gause scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Gause scored a full 55.6% of Kathleen's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amaya Shaw was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Camden County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Rietveld, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. The match was Rietveld's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dasmine Cooper, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Kathleen's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Camden County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Kathleen's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sandalwood at 4:45 p.m. on November 22nd. Hopefully Sandalwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Tuesday. As for Camden County, they will face off against Ponte Vedra at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
