A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Edinburg Bobcats duke it out with the Economedes Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Edinburg has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Edinburg humbled Harvest Christian with a 69-41 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Harvest Christian are ranked 896th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Axel Navarro, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six assists and four steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayan Martinez, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Economedes played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 81-45 loss at the hands of Los Fresnos. The Jaguars have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Edinburg will have to contain Nathaniel De La Garza as he made an impact in Economedes' last game. He went 11 of 16 on his way to 25 points. That was a full 55.6% of Economedes' points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Medrano, who put up 11 points and three steals.
Edinburg is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Economedes, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Edinburg has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Economedes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Edinburg against Economedes when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edinburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
