The Richton Rebels''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Mize 43-0. While losing is never fun, Richton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Mize is ranked 112th).
Mize's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talan Warren, who threw for 119 yards and four touchdowns on only six passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hancock, who picked up 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Richton's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.6 points per game. As for Mize, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Richton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mize will play host again and welcome St. Andrew's Episcopal, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. St. Andrew's Episcopal is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
