The Navarre Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Choctawhatchee Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Navarre is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Navarre had taken Milton down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. Navarre fell 7-4 to Milton.
Colton Deman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bo Shipley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Rasmussen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Choctawhatchee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Pine Forest on Friday. Considering the Indians have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Keeson Wheeler was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Jordan Figueroa also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Choctawhatchee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest only posted a batting average of .133.
Choctawhatchee now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Navarre, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Navarre has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Choctawhatchee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Navarre's way against Choctawhatchee when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Navarre made off with a 12-0 win. Does Navarre have another victory up their sleeve, or will Choctawhatchee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
