Basketball Recap: South Range Comes Up Short

South Range scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Columbiana Clippers. The game was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but the Raiders couldn't quite close it out.

Columbiana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Brown led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Brown is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Hunter Davanzo was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

South Range's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Columbiana, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Range and Hubbard will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbiana will take on East Palestine in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
