Firelands hasn't had much luck against Keystone recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Firelands is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Firelands made easy work of Oberlin and carried off a 20-3 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jeanette Crawford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Aubrynn Reichle was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Addison Beal also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Firelands lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Keystone waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Pirates since May 5, 2022.
Keystone got a massive performance out of Jordan Owca, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Owca has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bristol Foster, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Keystone pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Firelands, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Firelands has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Keystone struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Firelands might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Keystone in their previous meeting on April 9th. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
