Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Matthew Hilton and Jabreem Harvey Leads Coolidge over Southern School of Energy and Sustainability + How To Watch

Coolidge posted their closest victory since August 30, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans 22-20. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in District of Columbia, while the Spartans are ranked 64th in North Carolina) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coolidge found their leader in sophomore Jason Battle, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Coolidge didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Southern School of Energy and Sustainability to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Colts weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 59.1%.

Coolidge's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Matthew Hilton and Jabreem Harvey, who racked up all four sacks between them. Harvey is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonathan Dillon, who rushed for 102 yards and one score on only five carries, and Kamari Holloway, who rushed for 140 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Dillon's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Coolidge's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points on average over those games. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
