The Lenawee Christian Cougars will square off against the North Adams-Jerome Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lenawee Christian comes in on four and North Adams-Jerome on seven.
On Wednesday, Lenawee Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Morenci. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 22, 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Adams-Jerome). They put the hurt on Pittsford with a sharp 18-4 victory on Thursday. Considering the Rams have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Connor McKay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). McKay was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, North Adams-Jerome got a massive performance out of Kaleb Hale, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Nolan Paradine was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
North Adams-Jerome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
North Adams-Jerome's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lenawee Christian, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Lenawee Christian's way against North Adams-Jerome when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Lenawee Christian made off with a 15-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
