The Omaha R Roadrunners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 66-40 loss at the hands of Faith Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Omaha R can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 211th in Nebraska, while Faith Christian Academy is ranked 89th in Missouri).
Despite the loss, Omaha R saw an underclassman step up: Stephen Vankat scored 24 points along with four steals. The matchup was Vankat's eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Faith Christian Academy was led to victory by Max McMillen and John Schleeter. McMillen scored 14 points, while Schleeter scored 19 points along with five steals. Schleeter is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Philemon Richardson, who scored seven points.
Omaha R's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Faith Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Veritas Christian the next time they take the court. Omaha R will head out to face Veritas Christian at TBD on Saturday, while Faith Christian Academy will head out to face them at TBD on Saturday.
