The Coosa Valley Academy Rebels will square off against the Southern Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Coosa Valley Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Last Tuesday, everything went Coosa Valley Academy's way against Heritage Christian Academy as Coosa Valley Academy made off with a 12-1 victory. Considering the Rebels have won eight contests by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Setzer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Coosa Valley Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't).

Like Coosa Valley Academy, Southern Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Wyatt Martin. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Drew Rogers and BoBraeden Agee stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rogers scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Agee scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Coosa Valley Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Southern Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
