The Arcadia Firebirds pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 74-65 to Bennett. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (58), Arcadia still had to take the loss.
Arcadia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ryheim Pettit, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. Pettit is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Cropper, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Arcadia and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Bennett, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcadia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chincoteague at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Chincoteague focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday. As for Bennett, they will head out on the road to challenge Parkside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
