The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cox Mill, who took down 92nd ranked Cox Mill, 42-17.
Hickory Ridge extended the longest winning streak in 3A South Piedmont this week by beating Concord, 24-21. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Mount Pleasant's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Parker threw for 216 and four touchdowns and Jacob Rawson had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Denzal Gilmore chipped in 56 yards. Ben Drake helped Mount Pleasant's passing attack out by catching three balls for 57 yards.
Concord's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. B.J. Beecher has thrown for 2479 yards and 29 touchdowns this season, while Alex Asbury has 31 catches for 955 yards. Rocky Reid leads the league in rushing with 1051 yards.
The Spiders' Asbury needs only 45 receiving yards against A.L. Brown to crack 1,000 for the season.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Wonders take on Concord. A.L. Brown's offense has racked up 395 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Glen Padgett's team has allowed only 188 on the year.
A big matchup in 3A South Piedmont this week will be when Mike Newsome's team takes on the Spiders. As it stands, the Wonders are in third, while Concord is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when A.L. Brown and the Spiders face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wonders comes in having scored 395 this season, while Concord has scored 378. A.L. Brown scored 49 points last week as it beat Northwest Cabarrus.
Central Cabarrus moved up to 106 from 141 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to make move up by a bye.
