The Stagg Delta Kings will head out to square off against the Edison Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stagg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with ten straight losses, while Edison will come in with four straight wins.
Stagg managed to slip by Chavez the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Delta Kings came up short against the Titans on Tuesday, falling 11-3.
Stagg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliana Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Edison narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Franklin 5-3.
Alicia Leiva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angeleya Miranda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jamaiya Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Edison's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Stagg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stagg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Stagg might still be hurting after the 16-7 loss they got from Edison in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Delta Kings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
