Fredericksburg is a perfect 10-0 against Bandera since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Fredericksburg Billies will take on the Bandera BULLDOGS at 7:00 p.m. Bandera took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Fredericksburg, who comes in off a win.
Fredericksburg's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Gonzales with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Billies have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Stuewe was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Makenna Duecker tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
Back at the plate, Addison Schoessow was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. She also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Treibs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Fredericksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bandera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against Natalia, falling 10-0.
Bandera saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preslee Jade, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Bandera's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Fredericksburg, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Fredericksburg took their win against Bandera when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fredericksburg since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
