Basketball Recap: Ponte Vedra Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Maddox Palmer and David Sanchez Barrera

Ponte Vedra saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders.

Despite the loss, Ponte Vedra had strong showings from David Sanchez Barrera, who posted 16 points, and Maddox Palmer, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Burkhardt, who put up six points.

Ponte Vedra's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Lake Highland Prep, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponte Vedra won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fleming Island at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Highland Prep, they will venture away from home to take on Dr. Krop at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lake Highland Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.
