GREEN Upstate is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Whitmire Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
GREEN Upstate is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brashier Middle College Charter by a score of 9-5.
ETHAN HATHWAY made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. HATHWAY was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, CORBIN LITTLE was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. JOVANI SOTO was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Whitmire got themselves on the board against Thornwell on Wednesday, but Thornwell never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Saints. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won six in a row.
Crue Keller and Kaden Malpass did most of the damage at the plate: Keller went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Malpass went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Malpass has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Steele, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Whitmire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
GREEN Upstate came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitmire in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
