Baseball Recap: Cyprus Snags 11th Victory in Last 14 Games

Cyprus had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Kearns on Tuesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cody Densley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Reiner Hidalgo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Cyprus has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kearns, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cyprus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
