Oak Ridge is a perfect 4-0 against Granite Bay since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Trojans will challenge the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. Oak Ridge will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Oak Ridge will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Folsom on Thursday. The Trojans enjoyed a cozy 34-19 win over the Bulldogs. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 600th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maya Scipio was nothing short of spectacular: she threw for 162 yards and four TDs. Addison Hemans was in the mix as well, providing Oak Ridge with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Oak Ridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Lily Brown was especially locked on to Folsom's QB and sacked her twice. Rachel Groth got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Granite Bay got themselves on the board against Del Oro on Thursday, but Del Oro never followed suit. They blew past the Golden Eagles 37-0. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won four games by 29 points or more so far this season.
Granite Bay's win came from a few key players Oak Ridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maddie Benedyuk, who picked up 38 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 38 receiving yards gave her a new career-high. Anna Craven did her part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 38 receiving yards.
Granite Bay didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hallie Tapuosi and Gianna Al-Shaikh. Madison Castelanos was another major factor on D, picking up four sacks, making five total tackles, and defending one pass.
Oak Ridge's record now sits at 12-1. As for Granite Bay, their record is now 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Oak Ridge against Granite Bay in their previous meeting last Thursday, as the team secured a 33-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
