North Sanpete has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Emery Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully North Sanpete focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Last Friday, North Sanpete ended up a good deal behind Manti and lost 62-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Sanpete in their matchups with Manti: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from McKay Schlappi, who scored seven points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Cook, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Emery can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took down Carbon 58-39.
Luke Justice and Zack Tuttle were among the main playmakers for Emery as the former scored 20 points and the latter scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Justice has scored at least a third of Emery's points. Another player making a difference was Wade Stilson, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
North Sanpete has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Emery, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
North Sanpete came up short against Emery in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 72-59. Can North Sanpete avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
