The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for SouthWest Edgecombe in their matchups with North Pitt: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, SouthWest Edgecombe saw an underclassman step up: Kd Collins scored 15 points. The matchup was Collins' 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Leading North Pitt to victory were Jordan Speller and Zamareya Jones. Speller scored 32 points along with three steals, while Jones shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 assists. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of North Pitt's points. Kenae Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
SouthWest Edgecombe's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for North Pitt, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Ayden - Grifton the next time they take the court. North Pitt will host Ayden - Grifton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while SouthWest Edgecombe will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
