The Golden Demons won the last time they faced the Aurora Central Trojans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Golden blew past Aurora Central 58-26 on the road. With Golden ahead 30-9 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Golden found their leader in underclassman Freya Wellman, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kempley Wellman, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez and Leslie Garcia certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson Gonzalez scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds, while Garcia scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. Johnson Gonzalez is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Aurora Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Golden racked up 18.
The win got Golden back to even at 2-2. As for Aurora Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden's road trip will continue as they head out to face Overland at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Overland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Aurora Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Prairie View is ranked 65th, while Aurora Central is ranked 81st).
