Basketball Recap: North Duplin Takes Down Weldon in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, North Duplin rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Weldon Chargers 59-20. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

North Duplin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addy Higginbotham led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Higginbotham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Tateyawna Faison was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

North Duplin's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.3 points. As for Weldon, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Coming up, North Duplin will face off against Gates County on Friday. Gates County's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so North Duplin's offense will have their work cut out for them. Weldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
