Ephrata is 2-0 against Muhlenberg since August of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Ephrata Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Muhlenberg Muhls at 7:00 p.m. Ephrata will be strutting in after a win while Muhlenberg will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Twin Valley scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Ephrata still came out on top. Ephrata strolled past Twin Valley with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. 52 seems to be a good number for Ephrata as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Ephrata's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Collazo-Colon, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 44 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Sam McCracken also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Ephrata's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Quintin Pfautz and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Muhlenberg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Warwick on the road and fell 64-7. While losing is never fun, Muhlenberg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Warwick is ranked 177th).
Ephrata has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight contests, giving them a 7-1 record. Muhlenberg has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight contests, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Ephrata against Muhlenberg when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ephrata since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
