The Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans will head out to challenge the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wesleyan Christian Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Forsyth Home Educators will be coming in after a defeat.
Wesleyan Christian Academy let North Raleigh Christian Academy stack six runs on them in the seventh inning two weeks ago but luckily Wesleyan Christian Academy prevailed anyway. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Knights 11-9. Surprisingly, this marked the Trojans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Maris Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wesleyan Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Alexis Emery, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Emery has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Juliana Abantohollans, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Wesleyan Christian Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Forsyth Home Educators' offense. They fell 5-0 to Glenn on Monday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Hawks were not able to get on the board.
Forsyth Home Educators saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabelle Welborn, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Wesleyan Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Forsyth Home Educators, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Everything went Wesleyan Christian Academy's way against Forsyth Home Educators when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Wesleyan Christian Academy made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
