It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Elida ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Parkway Panthers, sneaking past 8-7. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Lilly Sifrit made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Carly Chiles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Elida kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
Elida pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.
