Softball Recap: Wicksburg Continues Home Dominance on Monday

While Wicksburg put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Dale County. The Panthers blew past the Warriors 11-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 23 games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Anleigh Wood, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abbie Ellenburg, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Wicksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dale County only posted an OBP of .118.

Wicksburg pushed their record up to 37-7 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Dale County, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 23-11 record.

Wicksburg and Dale County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Panthers will challenge Zion Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 167). Meanwhile, Dale County (ranked 127th) will meet Daleville (ranked 404th) at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
