It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Williston Red Devils had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Pahokee at home to the tune of 52-17. The victory was just business as usual for Williston, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Ja?mez Jamison was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Jamison was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Williston also got a significant boost from Jamari Williams, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Pahokee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hardley Gilmore, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Henry ?jayjay? boyd who threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Gilmore is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Williston has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Citrus and 1-9 North Marion (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.2% over those games). As for Pahokee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Williston will stay at home for another week and welcome Hawthorne at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Hawthorne is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Pahokee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
