The St. Francis Sharks pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marina. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (60), St. Francis still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, St. Francis got some senior leadership from Joseph Rose and Sam Braun. Rose dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Braun. scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Braun is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Markel Parker, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
It was another big night for Julius Robinson, who scored 38 points for Marina. That makes it four consecutive games in which Robinson has scored at least a third of Marina's points. Kaleb True was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
St. Francis has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Marina, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
St. Francis will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. As for Marina, they will head out on the road to square off against North Monterey County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Monterey County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while Marina is ranked 399th).
