The Big Valley Cardinals can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over Dunsmuir. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Big Valley also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Josue Barba, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Kenobbie, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Dunsmuir still got an impressive performance from Michael Kellar, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 65.7% of Dunsmuir's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Big Valley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Dunsmuir, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Big Valley will challenge the Timberjacks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dunsmuir, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Casey Grove and Kellar.
