Covenant Christian and Beech Grove are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Warriors will welcome the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Christian has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Covenant Christian is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Wednesday. They lost 15-4 to Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Covenant Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmy Nottingham, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Beech Grove made easy work of Lebanon on Tuesday and carried off a 12-6 victory.
Kyrah Pierle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Harper Moore was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Addison Corn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Beech Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Beech Grove, their win bumped their record up to 7-18.
Covenant Christian got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Beech Grove by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
