Maconaquah is 2-8 against Rochester since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Braves will host the Zebras at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Maconaquah and Manchester, and Manchester kept the tradition alive. The Braves fell 51-45 to the Squires on Saturday. The loss put an end to the Braves' undefeated start to the season.
Despite the loss, Maconaquah got top-tier performance from Aubrey Stoll, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Maiben, who posted six points and three steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Rochester was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They came up short against Peru, falling 50-24.
Despite the defeat, Rochester saw an underclassman step up: freshman Adayln Gonzalez earned 12 points along with eight boards and three steals. Gonzalez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Having lost for the first time this season, Maconaquah fell to 2-1. As for Rochester, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Maconaquah has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
