The Reicher Catholic Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Gorman Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 12 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Reicher Catholic and five for Bishop Gorman.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-10, which was the final score in Reicher Catholic's tilt against Mercy Culture Prep on Friday. Reicher Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-3.
Reicher Catholic's defeat came about despite a quality game from Isaiah Glen, who gained 136 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman fell victim to Lubbock Christian's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Eagles on the road and fell 55-0. While losing is never fun, Bishop Gorman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1177th, while Lubbock Christian is ranked 562nd).
Reicher Catholic's defeat was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 First Baptist and 12-1 Lubbock Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.4% over those games). Bishop Gorman has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first seven matches, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season.
Reicher Catholic and Bishop Gorman were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but Reicher Catholic suffered an agonizing 30-29 loss. Can Reicher Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
