The biggest upset of the week belonged to Galena, who took down 76th ranked Galena, 19-16. Nate Bole threw for 100 yards and one touchdown and ran for 77 yards in the win.
Bole and Jordan Morgan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Bulldogs. The longest such play in Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee this season, the connection resulted in 67 yards.
Southeast's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Thompson threw for 245 and one touchdown and Daniel Peak had 171 yards receiving. On the ground Thompson chipped in 125 yards. Ryan Rakestraw helped Southeast's passing attack out by catching four balls for 62 yards.
Gabe Helton made the biggest impact on defense this week as Galena lost to Columbus. The 5-foot-9 sophomore pulled down one interception.
The Lancers' Thompson and Peak have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thompson has thrown for 953 yards this season, while Peak, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 31 catches for 598 yards. Bole from the Titans leads the league in rushing with 530 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Beau Sarwinski's team takes on Girard. The Bulldogs are in third place, while the Trojans are in second place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Galena takes on Girard. The Bulldogs have allowed 62 points this season, while Leon Miller's team has given up 28. Galena allowed 19 points last week as it fell to Columbus.
Dan Grundy's team moved up to 93 from 133 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee. The Titans were able to make the jump by beating the Bulldogs 19-16.
