Lafayette has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Brentsville District Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Lafayette rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the Hurricanes, posting a 49-0 victory at home. Lafayette might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by 29 points or more this season.
Hayden Oleksy and Nazeer Wolmart were among the main playmakers for Lafayette as the former rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Brentsville District came tearing into Friday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Armstrong (Kennedy) 30-28.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.5 points per game. As for Brentsville District, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
