Mia Hoffer put in work no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Hoffer was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Hoffer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Harper Evans, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Camden County waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Aces. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Kaitlynn Barnes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Young, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Camden County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Camden County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Holmes, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Camden County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Holmes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Camden County, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Holmes keep running through batters, or will the Bruins buck the trend?
