The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sunlake, who took down 231st ranked Mitchell, 36-7. Josh Zifer threw for 54 yards and ran for 141 yards in the win.
Nature Coast Tech's Matthew Breida rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 6 this season in his game against River Ridge last week. Breida ran for 93 yards on the play and finished with 225 on the day as his team bested the Knights /Royal.
River Ridge's dynamic duo of Josh Maisel and Brian Clinkscale proved tough for Nature Coast Tech to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Maisel threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns and Clinkscale had 140 yards receiving. George Cordova helped River Ridge's passing attack out by catching three balls for 36 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Tyler Mahla of Springstead is the league leader in passing yards this season with 498. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, Charles Liggett's team's Breida has rushed for 828 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Clinkscale. The River Ridge star has nine catches for 169 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Seahawks take on the Sharks. Sunlake is in third place, while Nature Coast Tech is in fourth place.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 6 this week by beating Land O'Lakes, 20-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for Springstead.
