Central Falls is 9-0 against Scituate since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Central Falls Warriors' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Scituate Spartans at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Central Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Last Friday, Central Falls faced Moses Brown in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Central Falls sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over Moses Brown. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Central Falls has posted yet this season.
Central Falls got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Ortiz out in front who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Ortiz also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Moises Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Scituate, who are still winless after their tenth game. They fell 54-45 to Prout on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Scituate in their matchups with Prout: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Andy Vigeant, who scored 11 points.
Central Falls' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Scituate, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Central Falls have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Scituate, though, as they've been averaging only 25.2 rebounds per game. Given Central Falls' sizeable advantage in that area, Scituate will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Central Falls against Scituate in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-39 victory. Will Central Falls repeat their success, or does Scituate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
