Having struggled with four losses in a row, Macon County turned things around against Westmoreland on Tuesday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthew Wheeley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Wheeley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty Bilbrey, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another was Hayes Polston, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Clay County was the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Red Boiling Springs. Clay County not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Kolton Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Brady Dailey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Clay County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Macon County, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Clay County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Macon County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Clay County, though, as they've only averaged .191. Will they be able to contain Macon County's hitters?
Macon County came out on top in a nail-biter against Clay County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Macon County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
