Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Wins Going Away Against American Leadership Academy

Spring Valley's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the American Leadership Academy Patriots as they made off with a 9-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ben Pierce looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Spring Valley got a big performance out of Braden Lawton, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Lawton a new career-high. Jackson Williams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Spring Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .250.

Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for American Leadership Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will take on Chapin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for American Leadership Academy, they will challenge Horse Creek Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
