AAA Region 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Deantae Johnson and Stephen Gomez provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Dublin. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in AAA Region 3 this season.
Thomson was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating LaGrange 49-42. The Bulldogs came in at 14 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Swainsboro's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johnson threw for 120 and two touchdowns and Gomez had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Jemerico Bell chipped in 156 yards. Demetrius Knight helped Swainsboro's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Swainsboro's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dylan Poole has thrown for 174 yards this season, while Gomez has two catches for 86 yards. Bell leads the league in rushing with 390 yards.
The Tigers moved up to 150 from 252 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Swainsboro was able to make the jump by beating the Fighting Irish 34-10.
