The Spencer Greenwave can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They blew past Cairo 70-37 on the road. With Spencer ahead 37-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Leading Spencer to victory were Alexandria Berk and Nadeya King. Berk dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while King dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nadra Rosser, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Despite the defeat, Cairo saw an underclassman step up: Elyse Pierce scored five points along with seven rebounds. Kaylah Paytee was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Spencer and bumps their season record up to 11-6. As for Cairo, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spencer will challenge Kendrick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kendrick has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Cairo, they will head out on the road to face off against Hardaway at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hardaway will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
