The Bradshaw Christian The Pride lost against the Union Mine Diamondbacks back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Bradshaw Christian suffered a rough 61-40 loss at the hands of Union Mine. Bradshaw Christian has not had much luck with Union Mine recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Bradshaw Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josh O'neal. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was O'neal's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Carson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Leading Union Mine to victory were Nate Sweet and Isaac Zmerzlikar. Sweet scored 23 points, while Zmerzlikar dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sweet has scored at least 25% of Union Mine's points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Gines, who scored eight points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Bradshaw Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Union Mine, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bradshaw Christian and Calaveras will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Calaveras focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. Union Mine will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Del Campo at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Del Campo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 840th, while Union Mine is ranked 141st).
