Rolesville is 1-9 against Wakefield since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rams will challenge the Wolverines at 4:05 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Rolesville came out on top against Millbrook on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Rams put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-1 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Kaitlyn Curphey made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Abbie DeCiantis and Gianna D'Antonio did most of the damage at the plate: DeCiantis went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while D'Antonio went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave D'Antonio a new career-high. Katie King also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Rolesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millbrook only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Wakefield had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Aniela Piscorik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Brianna Riehle was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Emily Fernandez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.
Wakefield's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Rolesville, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rolesville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rolesville suffered a grim 16-10 defeat to Wakefield when the teams last played on April 9th. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
