The Bozeman Bucks are taking a road trip to square off against the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bozeman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Bozeman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Florida State University High School.
Avery Obert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Presley Thomason, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Peacock, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Bozeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. Everything went their way against the Braves as they made off with an 8-1 win. Considering the Buccaneers have won 17 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Mallon and Ally Brady were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Mallon struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Brady pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Mallon has posted since back in March. At the plate, Mallon went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Brady went 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, McKenzie Goff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bailee Gladden, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
North Bay Haven Academy pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bozeman, their record is now 14-10.
Both Bozeman and North Bay Haven Academy just can't seem to miss. The Bucks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like North Bay Haven Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bozeman suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to North Bay Haven Academy in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Bucks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
