Volleyball Recap: Salt Lake Academy Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maeser Prep Academy, Salt Lake Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the American Leadership Academy Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Griffins also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Salt Lake Academy who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 17-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-3.

Amelia Anderson paced Salt Lake Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Anderson got some help from Mercedes Mendez and her ten assists. Jeisabe Gutierrez controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Salt Lake Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for American Leadership Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Salt Lake Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Draper APA on the 22nd. As for American Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Freedom Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
