Schuylkill Haven has gone a perfect 7-0 against Schuylkill Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hurricanes will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Schuylkill Haven is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
While Schuylkill Haven's victory against Oley Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hurricanes skirted past the Lynx 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hurricanes have posted since March 27th.
Gracelyn Line spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nicole Domermuth was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Wehr, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Schuylkill Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Oley Valley with a sharp 9-2 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Schuylkill Valley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Katelyn Raymond gave up just two earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Schuylkill Valley got a big performance out of Kayla Konetsky, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Ella Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Schuylkill Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.4.
Schuylkill Haven's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Schuylkill Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Schuylkill Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Schuylkill Haven has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Schuylkill Valley, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 strikeouts. Will Schuylkill Haven keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
